TPXE Tonal Plexus Editor Report History

Type Reported Platform Description Response Status
BugJun.2010Mac

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but if I happen to hot swap my my U-PLEX keyboard while TPXE is running Live Input, it gives me a bug report window. Seems I can continue without problems.

Confirmed. You can continue to work and there will be no problems. I'll fix it.

Fixed 1.5.0

BugJun.2010Both

The Live Input window is displaying wierdly.

Confirmed. The window height is incorrect.

Fixed 1.5.0

BugJun.2010Both

It crashed at startup.

Confirmed, only for new users. It's looking for a nonextistant file held over from previous versions.

Fixed 1.4.3

RequestJun.2010Both

Could you add a split keyboard function to the Live Input so I can have two different timbres?

Yes. I've thought about doing this for some time.

Added 1.5.0

BugMay.2010Windows

When using with U-PLEX, the octave switching isn't working. The number changes, but the sounding octave doesn't change.

Confirmed. This had to do with the USB device recognition bug in Windows XP. That bug is supposed to have been fixed in Vista and 7.

Fixed 1.4.2

RequestNov.2009Both

Could you add a sustain pedal polarity switch for the Live Input?

Yes. I actually meant to do this in the last update but then forgot about it.

Added 1.4.2

RequestOct.2009Mac

Could you make mac two-finger dragging work for keyboard scrolling?

Yes. It will also work with a mouse wheel on both platforms.

Added 1.4.1

BugOct.2009Both

The ratio function. The cent difference is printed after the ratio without any + sign

Confirmed. It is working correctly only for negative cents errors right now.

Fixed 1.4.1

BugOct.2009Mac

In OSX 10.6 the program crashes at startup.

Confirmed. Apple made some changes in 10.6 that are causing the crash.

Fixed 1.4.1

BugOct.2009Windows

I'm a registered user, and when I open Live Input as soon as I press a key on the keyboard the program crashes.

Confirmed. It was looking for Note Off messages on an illegal channel.

Fixed 1.4.1

BugJun.2009Mac

I'm running OSX 10.5.7 and it unexpectedly quits and gives an Apple bug report when I select a soundfont in the synthesizer

Confirmed. Apple recently made a change in CoreAudio that is causing this crash.

Fixed 1.3.1

RequestJun.2009Both

Could the ratio button and the shape list be somehow combined to make an automatic 'show ratio on the keyboard' function?

For the master tuning, yes. I'll have to think more about this.

RequestJun.2009Both

scroll arrows not working correctly with the chord shapes.

They work, scrolling only within the window, you just need to use the scrollbar or grab the overhead box ... but I realize it is not exactly expected behavior. I'll take a look at it.

Fixed 1.4.0

RequestJun.2009Both

The ratio button is nice idea but it gives very high-limit values instead of simple or common JI intervals: 215/191 for 9/8 201/181 for 10/9, etc.

Yes. If you put in the exact cent value of 9/8, it gives 9/8, etc. Right now it is showing exact ratios, to 0.01 cents with very high prime limit. I'll add a cents precision and prime limit to preferences.

Added 1.3.1

RequestApr.2009Both

Can you make the yellow dots easier to see on the small keyboard?

OK, I'll see what I can do.

Added 1.3.0

RequestApr.2009Both

I would like individual user-definable note names that you could type in the note name box instead of the usual Pythagorean or Hunt names. Or, alternatively, an extra column for user-definable note names / short comments.

Sorry, but this requires too much work - changing the interface as well as the file format - and to boot, other note names don't really interest me; however, I can do it if you want to pay for it. In that case, contact me by email to negotiate.

BugApr.2009Both

It's not opening the file if I double click the file to open the application.

Confirmed.

Fixed 1.3.0

BugApr.2009Both

Using Command-S or File > Save sometimes brings up the Save As dialog when it shouldn't.

Confirmed. Using Undo / Redo is losing the file reference sometimes.

Fixed 1.3.0

RequestApr.2009Both

There seems to be no way to start a new tuning file except by quitting and restarting.

You can get a new tuning presently without quitting by having a 'template' tuning file (could be the default master tuning or whatever you want) ready in your preferred 'open' folder. Then just load when you want a new tuning, using Open > Your Template, and then you make your tuning and save that file under a new name. But I'll add a File > New menu item to the next update.

Added 1.3.0

RequestMar.2009Both

I want to make all the note names use traditional double and triple flats instead of the special comma signs, but I only know how to change the note names one at a time.

OK, presently the naming is only done one way - comma shifted - by default. I'll make this user selectable, to choose Pythagorean or comma-shifted.

Added 1.3.0

BugFeb.2009Both

The key doesn't show up in the little white box when I load a file.

Confirmed. The value was still loaded correctly; fixed now.

Fixed 1.2.1

BugFeb.2009Both

I tried using areas and it works but then they don't load from the file.

Confirmed. The Area tags have been fixed.

Fixed 1.2.1

BugJan.2009Both

It adds a blank line to the end of imported Scala files

Confirmed. The last line is no longer added.

Fixed 1.2.1

RequestJan.2009Mac

I wish the synth would produce simple waves like sine, triangle, etc.

I'm working on this, but for now you can use the Basic Waveforms soundfont from the downloads page. Note that this soundfont has C tuned to A440 Hz, so you have to use the synth Cents Offset to get it back to C.

BugDec.2008Both

Entries like (14,22)+{pi} give an error.

Confirmed. Right now, only a number can go in the cents position (at the end of an entry, where {pi} is in the given example). In the next update you will be able to use whatever would be a valid entry by itself in the cents position.

Fixed 2.2.0

BugNov.2008Mac

The Key window cannot be reopened after I have opened and closed it once

It can be opened by clicking on the Key display. The menu select and command key will be fixed.

Fixed 1.2.0

BugOct.2008Mac

All Cs are tuned to E-38 and I can't tune them to anything else

Not reproducible.

Fixed 1.1.1

BugOct.2008Both

my files are loading all messed up

it is doing this with files of version 0, workaround for now is to open the file in a text editor and add a blank line after the first two lines in the file

Fixed 1.1.1

BugOct.2008Both

I get an error message: Parser:1:1 produced a compile error: syntax error. x=1:1

bug introduced this update - single ratios with a colon such as 1:1 with no parentheses will cause this error in the parser, add parentheses (1:1) to fix it for now

Fixed 1.1.1

BugOct.2008Win

It crashes on startup

This is happening the first time when the preferences file is being updated. For now, just boot again and it should open fine.

Fixed 1.1.1

RequestOct.2008Mac

Sending a table to my keyboard doesn't work

This version of TPXE defaults to the MIDI port selected in your Preferences when you program a table, so make sure that you set the preferred MIDI output to your MIDI interface. It works, but the next update will put output options in the program window to avoid this confusion.
